On July 16, 2009, Jimena was crowned Nuestra Belleza Jalisco in Guadalajara, her hometown.  After winning her state pageant, she won the title Nuestra Belleza México 2009, on September 20, 2009, in Mérida, Yucatán, as well, besting thirty-three other contestants.  She was the second consecutive winner of Nuestra Belleza Mexico 2008  from Jalisco after Karla Carrillo, her close friend who encouraged her to participate in this pageant.
On August 23, 2010, Navarrete was named Miss Universe 2010, making her the second Mexican delegate to win the title, after Lupita Jones in 1991. Both were crowned in Las Vegas, Nevada. Navarrete replaces Miss Universe 2009 Stefania Fernandez of Venezuela.  Jimena is a nature enthusiast and she is involved in altruistic activity with Televisa Network, “Nuestra Belleza Mexico 2009”.
She answered the question about Arizona’s recent immigration law, which authorizes police officers to stop all suspected persons and ask for proof of citizenship. “Every country has the right to impose and enact their laws, but I tell you that all the Mexicans and the Latinos that are living here in the United States are hardworking people—people who want to improve their quality of life”.

Origin: She was born on  February  22, 1988, in Guadalajara,  in the capital of the Mexican state of Jalisco. Jimena is one of two daughters, born to dentist parents Carlos Navarrete and Gabriela Rosete.
Education: She studied nutrition at the Valle de Atemajac University, she is an alumnus of the Asian Academy of Film & Television based in India.
Career highlights: She began modelling locally at the age of sixteen. Navarrete was crowned Nuestra Belleza Jalisco on July 16, 2009, in her hometown and on August 23, 2010, Navarrete was named Miss Universe, in Las Vegas, Nevada.
During her reign, Navarrete travelled to Spain, multiple trips to numerous countries around the World. Jimena spends her year as Miss Universe drawing attention to the plight of people with breast cancer and HIV/AIDS.
On February 10, 2011, Navarrete became the spokesperson of L’Oreal Paris and Old Navy.

Personal life: Navarrete was born and raised in Guadalajara, the capital city of Jalisco, Mexico to a middle-class family. She is one of two children, born to Carlos Navarrete, a dentist, and Gabriela Rosete Riestra, a housewife. She has one younger sister. She began modelling locally at the age of sixteen, and studied nutrition at the Valle de Atemajac University, prior to taking part in the world pageant.
In 2012, Ximena accepted to be part of a genetic study, her maternal lineage is haplogroup J; her roots lie in the region known as theFranco-Cantabrian, which is in northern Spain and southwestern France.

She and her boyfriend, Pablo Nieto, had been dating for three years.

In August 2016 Ximena Navarrete was officially engaged to Juan Carlos Valladares, the 34-year-old Mexican businessman. The couple recently spent some quality time in Miami and Orlando.
